Community Association Law

Many homeowner and condominium associations, including many of the state's largest associations, rely upon the firm for representation in transition, governance, management, and assessment collections. Lincoln W. Hobbs is actively involved in association and developer representation, and is extemely active in the national and local chapter of the Community Associations Institute. Mr. Hobbs is the past president and founder of the Utah Chapter of the Community Associations Institute (UCCAI). Employment and Labor Law

Hobbs & Olson provides employment counseling and representation in all aspects of employment law, for both management and employees. Our current caseload includes numerous cases involving sexual discrimination, including sexual harassment, Family and Medical Leave Act disputes, retailiation claims, and the enforcement of and defense against non-compete agreements. Lincoln W. Hobbs has repeatedly lectured, and continues to lecture, on all areas of employment law. Lincoln is a past chair of the Utah State Bar Labor and Employment Section.

Criminal Defense

Margaret Olson, a former prosecutor, provides effective and aggressive criminal defense, in charges ranging from minor traffic and juvenile offenses, including driving while intoxicated (DUI), to the defense of complicated white collar crimes.

Probate Litigation

Margaret Olson has also been extensively and regularly involved in probate litigation, assisting in the resolution of disputes involving estate distribution.

We also have a history of resolving disputes throgh settlement agreements acheived with and without mediation. Green Law

Green law is a developing area of the law, which was unfortunately in its infancy at the beginning of the latest great recession. We don't know, and we don't think that anyone knows, when and how the recovery will come about, but when it does, we are confident that sustainability, and concerns about the environment will be central to that recovery. We intend to lead our green clients through that recovery.

Real Property Law

We've been involved in many real property disputes over the years, and have counseled hundreds of buyers and sellers of real property. We conduct evictions and foreclosures, and also defend individuals facing improper or unwarranted foreclosures. We have represented many individuals in recovering earnest money deposits and consequential damages in connection with real estate deals that don't close, and in fraudulent real estate transactions.

Women Lawyers Group

Many firms, dominated by male lawyers, like to boast about their "women lawyers groups". At Hobbs & Olson, most of our firm members are women. The women in our firm, and the progressive token male attorney in the firm, are serious in our commitment to assist women in all of their legal needs.

Appeals

Our numerous successes in trials, and our occassional losses at trials, have led to numerous appeals to the Utah Court of Appeals, and the Utah Supreme Court. Our extensive experience before those courts makes us well qualified to defend or pursue an appeal on our behalf of our clients, should that become necessary.
