Margaret H. Olson
Margaret H. Olson was born in Provo, Utah in 1967. She grew up in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and attended the University of Utah.
Margaret received her B.A. in history in 1989 and her J.D. in 1992. Margaret was a prosecutor with the Salt Lake District Attorney's office, where she prosecuted felony jury trials, with the special victims unit. She was thereafter employed in private civil practice with the firms of Stirba and Hathaway and Winder & Haslam. Margaret has been repeatedly and regularly listed as one of Utah's "Legal Elite" in the category of criminal law.
Margaret was selected in 2008 as a Mountain States SuperLawyer, which indicates her selection as one of the top 5 percent of lawyers in Utah, as chosen by her peers and through the independent research of Law & Politics.
Margaret is a member of the Utah and Idaho State Bars, and practices in both Utah and Idaho. She is the President-elect of the Park City Bar Association.
Margaret's practice includes both criminal and civil trial work, including representation in the defense of misdemeanor and felony charges, including but not limited to DUI , other driving and drug charges, and sex offenses. Her civil focus includes representation in family law matters, including divorce, custody and child support disputes.
Recent Child Abuse Jury Acquital
On June 9, Margaret Olson successfully defended her client whom had been charged with three child-abuse related crimes. Counts 2 and 3 were stricken at the close of the evidence, when the court granted Margaret's motion. Thereafter, the Jury returned a Not Guilty verdict to Count 1 after deliberating less than 30 minutes.
